King's Award for Keswick Community Housing Trust

The Lord-Lieutenant with Bill Bewley, Chair of Keswick Community Housing Trust
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria, Mr Alexander Scott, was delighted to present Keswick Community Housing Trust with their King's Award for Voluntary Service on Friday 30 May – the highest honour awarded to volunteer groups in the UK.
This prestigious award recognises the Trust’s outstanding commitment to providing affordable housing in Keswick, ensuring a vibrant and sustainable community for future generations.
Founded in 2010 by a dedicated group of volunteers, Keswick Community Housing Trust was established to tackle the area's pressing housing challenges.
These include high property prices, a significant number of homes being used for holiday lets, and low local wages.
Despite these obstacles, the Trust has successfully developed 40 high-quality, eco-friendly homes across four projects, enabling local residents to remain in Keswick and benefit the local economy and community life.
