The Vice Lord-Lieutenant
Lord (Richard) Inglewood DL
Lord (Richard) Inglewood was appointed DL in 1993 and Vice Lord Lieutenant in 2012.
He is a Member of the House of Lords, a barrister and Chartered Surveyor, and has an MA from Trinity College Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
He was Chairman of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership from 2018 until 2025. He was minister for broadcasting and for tourism when Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of National Heritage in the late 1990s and also Chairman of the House of Lords Communications Committee and Ad Hoc Committee on Asylum. He has also served twice as an MEP, first for Cumbria and Lancashire North and then for North-West England and was a member of the Lake District Special Planning Board 1983 to 1989.
He chaired the Boards of CN Group, Carr’s plc and Gen2 and is former President of Cumbria Tourist Board and also a former Chairman of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art. He lives at Hutton-in-the-Forest.
