The Vice Lord Lieutenant
The Vice Lord Lieutenant is a senior Deputy Lieutenant appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant to stand in for him/her when absent, sick or otherwise unable to act. The Vice Lord Lieutenant acts with the full authority of the Lord-Lieutenant.
Lord (Richard) Inglewood DL
Lord (Richard) Inglewood was appointed DL in 1993 and Vice Lord Lieutenant in 2012.
He has been Chairman of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership since June 2018. He is a Member of the House of Lords, a barrister and Chartered Surveyor, and has an MA from Trinity College Cambridge.
He was minister for broadcasting and for tourism when Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of National Heritage in the late 1990s. He has also served twice as an MEP, first for Cumbria and Lancashire North and then for North-West England.
He chaired the Boards of CN Group, Carr’s plc and Gen2 and is former President of Cumbria Tourist Board. He lives at Hutton-in-the-Forest.
